The Sabbath RHEMA WORD (03 / 08/ 08)

Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. I know Sunday is not the Sabbath, and most of the Christian church ignore that commandment, and use excuses to justify their reasons. (Ex. 20:8) Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy (having a divine origin, associated with God and sacred, reverent or awe). Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in the six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day”. Therefore the Lord blessed (the bestowal of divine favor, and makes happy or prosperous) the Sabbath day and hallowed (made holy and honored as holy) it.

Father, how important is it keeps the true Sabbath from Friday sun down to Saturday sundown? Jesus said that He was Lord of the Sabbath (7th day). Why?

Because death is when you rest from your burdens, and begin with sundown and night. But turns into light, and metaphorically it represents the time spent in the grave, and resurrecting at new beginnings (8th day), or the new week. The sacrifice of a spotless lamb had to be completed before sun down of the Sabbath day. On the high holy Sabbath Jesus became the sacrificed lamb, and high priest, giving up His life to begin a new creation, and generation of priests, announcing: ‘It is finished’. So you see that the Sabbath represents the ultimate sacrifice, His death, nights in the tomb, and renewed through resurrection to new beginnings. When you invite Him into your live, it is this same Sabbath experience as displayed through baptism. Life begins from darkness, and comes forth into light. New life also starts in darkness and is resurrected to new life eternal. So the Son before dark on the end of the (6th day, represents man and the flesh) gave his life as a ransom for you.

“Let Me ask you a question: Have you grafted into the olive tree of Israel? If so, then what I gave as commandments to Israel, it must also apply to you”.

What is the purpose of the Sabbath? (1) To be a sign of the covenant. (2) To honor and worship Me. (3) To remember My salvation, and meditate on the good things I have done for you.

(4) And to rest from your labors, and become renewed.  The Sabbath was the established day the early church met together. And throughout all scriptures, it was never changed to the first day.

(acts 20:7) ‘On the first of the week we came together to break bread.’ Does not mean it has become a new Sabbath day. Jesus claimed He was Lord of the Sabbath, and sought to restore it to its original intent. He was hated by the religious leaders of His time because he healed the sick and disabled, on the Sabbath. They had added burdensome rules and regulations, not part of Gods teaching and instruction.

The Sabbath was created for us, symbolizing the rest He wants for us, as an eternal Sabbath. (Heb. 4:1-13) Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us (Jews) as well as to them (Gentiles); but the world which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we (Jews) who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: ‘So I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter My rest, ‘although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: ‘And God rested on the seventh day from all His works’; and again in this place: They shall not enter My rest.’ Since therefore it remains that same must enter it, and those whom (Children of Israel) it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, again He (GOD) designates acertain day, saying in David, ‘Today’, after such a long time, as it has been said: ‘Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts’. For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the sameexample of disobedience. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

In short; Scripture is very clear, yet is also very controversial with the traditional traditions of the Christian Church. Having studied church history, the Sabbath was changed to Sunday, a pagan worship day, by the Roman Catholic Church through a Roman Emperor around 380’s AD. I have known of this, but what can I do to change things? But God holds me accountable to obey his teaching and instruction, especially when it was written with His own hand, on the tablet of stone; we call the ‘Ten Commandments’. This is a specific day of importance to our Lord God and Creator.Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy (having a divine origin, associated with God and sacred, reverent or awe). Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God, not Sunday.

Therefore the Lord blessed (the bestowal of divine favor, and makes happy or prosperous) the Sabbath day and hallowed (made holy and honored as holy) it.Because we haven’t kept the true Sabbath hollowed, we are losing Gods divine favor of prosperity and happiness. If the ‘Ten commandments’ were for all of Gods people what excuse can we have.

Some say Sabbath only applies to Jews, but Paul says we have been grafted into the olive tree (the Israel of God) leaving that excuse with no merit. Some say it Sunday is when Jesus rose from the dead, others it doesn’t matter, for all days are the same.

If the written word of God is inspired, there is no excuse. God did not change the Sabbath day, but man, nor is there any scripture that justifies what was done. There are consequences for not keeping the Sabbath, beside lost blessings, divine favor happiness, prosperity and interring Gods rest.  Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. When the children of Israel did not keep the Sabbath, this was God’s response: ‘So I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter My rest, ‘although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Most of the Christian church, regarding the Sabbath, has been disobedient to the word of God. In our ignorance, we have separated ourselves from those who keep the Sabbath as God intended, grafted in to be one body. With this understanding the following scripture is a warning to those who have not kept The Sabbath rest.

Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. No longer are we dependent, on theological bios, or the religious traditions of men; but the pure truth revealed by Your Spirit.
