(Obadiah 15) “For the day of the Lord upon all the nations is near; as you have done, it shall be done to toy; your reprisal shall return upon your own head.”
Day of the Lord in prophesies is a time in history, when God directly intervenes to bring salvation to His people and punishment to the rebellious. By it God restores His righteous order in the Earth. This is also referred to as: ‘That Day,’ ‘The Day,’ and ‘The fulfillment of the day.’
They can be seen in different ways:
(1) Refers to invasion by foreign outside powers, awesome plagues, and a return from captivity, as with Israel. (2) It also represents merging periods of end times events, their fulfillment, which reaches beyond a particular, more recent event; into the futures pending final events; such as the second coming of Christ, who cast down the evil forces, which hinders God’s work, in this age and bring forth His blessings. (3) Then Christ will come, who rules over the earth in righteousness. (4) This will be the full arrival of the world to come with a new heaven and new earth.
