I feel that I should confirm what was given to me prophetically regarding prayer. The primary question is; to whom should we pray, according to scripture?
(Matthew 6:4-13) ‘The Lords Prayer’, is obviously among the best examples. Jesus said: “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. — Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen.” This is the model for all believers.
(Acts 4:24) “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea and all that is in them.” (2 Chronicles 20:5-6) “O Lord God of our fathers are You not God in heaven—-.
(Eph. 1:16-19) “—The God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you:
(1) We are to pray to the Lord, to God, and to the Father, which are all the same person.
(2) Jesus makes a distinction between Himself and His Father. (Jn. 16:23-27) “Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. —-I shall pray to the Father for you —-.”
(3) We are to ask of the Father in Jesus name.
(4) Jesus will pray to the Father for us.
(5) We are to be praying in the Holy Spirit. (Jude 20)
(6) The Holy Spirit helps us to pray (Romans 8:26-28) “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered (can’t be put into words). Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
(7) The Holy Spirit helps to give us the words, even prophetically.
(8) The Holy Spirit can give groaning and spiritual tongues. In essence, praying in the Spirit is praying under the inspiration of God’s anointing. It becomes the Holy Spirit praying through our spirit, in unity with the Father.
